He was a good friend, I was honored to know for many years. We shared many thoughts on historical happenings. He would enjoy speaking German with me. Every Saturday morning Jim would visit me and we had our cup of tea. Sometimes he would invite me for dinner at the Sea Lodge (Shores Restaurant) and I would pick him up. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. McKellar in 1986 after taking an appraisal assignment with my father from Garthe Brown, atty in Portland.

We met Mr. McKellar at the Beach Club for lunch by the pool. As mentioned in in his obituary, "he would effortlessly engage complete strangers in deep conversations, grilling them about their interests and life stories".
