To the dear McLean Family,
I was saddened to learn of Jim's sudden and tragic death. I know that this is a very difficult time for you; and hope that it won't be long before the sadness you now feel will pass, replaced by warm memories of all the happy times you and Jim shared. As I've said elsewhere, my heart goes out to all of you.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Jim Zinsmeister

I met Dr. McLean only once, when I accompanied a friend to her appointment with him last fall. It occurs to me how often we mentioned him in subsequent months, not only as being a wonderful physician, but for being a wonderful human being. Dr. McLean left striking goodness and kindness behind him, and he left it with us. I will remember him.

Dear Mr and Mrs McLean and family.
I was devastated to learn of the death of Jim. I never met him but felt that I knew him thru his relationship with my son Gary. He was Gary's collegue at Kessler in residency and in fellowship at RIC. He was also one of Gary's closest friends. He was a splendid doctor and very good friend. His loss is one to humanity.

Dr. McLean was my doctor. He was kind, thorough, considerate, compassionate and had a great sense of humor; but above all - he listened and he cared.
My deepest sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.

My heart goes out to Dr. McLean's family and friends. I new him for a very, very short time when I participated in a study he did on female athletes at Kessler Insitute. I was very impressed with the passion he showed for his work and I was very sad to hear about his passing. From what I read in the Kansas City Star he had a passion for life as well. I hope you take some comfort in knowing he made the world a little better for many people, including those he hardly knew.

My wife was referred to Dr. McLean by Dr. Paul Arnold. He was a compassionate and caring young man who I felt had alot to offer as a doctor. He listened to her problem and referred her to the proper doctor to help her. We only met him the one time, but, now we know he was an angel for her in her time of need. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. The news was indeed a shock.
