James, better known as "Sebastian", was born Tuesday, March 12, 1963, in Quincy, Florida to James McPhaul, Jr. and Kizzie L. McPhaul. He departed this life on Sunday, March 6, 2022, in Tallahassee, Florida at HCA Florida Capital Hospital.
Sebastian attended St. John Elementary School, George W. Munroe Elementary School, and Carter-Parramore Middle School. He graduated from James A. Shanks High School in the Class of 1981.
Sebastian was converted and baptized at St. Matthew Primitive Baptist Church and joined St. Hebron A.M.E. Church, where he sang in the Junior Choir. Later in life, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and joined Shiloh Church of Christ Written in Heaven. Sebastian retired from Florida State Hospital after 35 years of service.
Sebastian loved being around his family and had a love for dogs and horses. He also had an excellent memory and was often referred to as the "Brain" or "The Gate Keeper." Sebastian was known as the family's personal record keeper for important dates, birthdays, events, and names. His memory would go back for decades, recalling situations as if they had just happened.
Sebastian leaves to cherish his precious memories: his Son: Ronterrious McPhaul of Quincy, FL; two Grandchildren: Zion McPhaul of Winter Haven, FL and Zaylon McPhaul of Quincy, FL; his devoted and loving Mother and Father: James McPhaul and Kizzie L. McPhaul of Quincy, FL; Brothers: Sterling McPhaul of Quincy, FL, Baxter McPhaul and Byron McPhaul, both of Orlando, FL; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
