Family-Placed Obituary

JAMES A. MENOR James Arthur Menor, born March 10, 1930, died on September 5, 2012. Mr. Menor was born in Menominee, MI. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he earned the Combat Infantrymen's Badge. After the war, he returned home and attended Marquette University in Milwaukee where he met his first wife, Mary Beth. After his marriage, he moved to Homestead, FL where he attended and graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Business Administration. Upon his graduation, Mr. Menor moved to Lantana and took a job with Davis Lake Worth Monument Company at 517 Dixie Highway, Lake Worth. He ultimately purchased this business, changed its name to Lake Worth Monument Company, and ran it for many years. The company is still at the same location and is now owned and operated by his son, Fred. Mr. Menor was well known around Lake Worth and was active in many clubs and organizations, including the Trojan Twenty, the Exchange Club, and Small Fry/Large Fry Football to name a few. He was also active in professional organizations including Monument Builders of North America, of which he was a Past President, and the Florida Monument Builders Association of which he was a founding member and also served as President. Mr. Menor was devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and was a charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana. Mr. Menor is survived by his wife, Susie; his daughter, Dr. Susan Baker; sons, Arthur (Suzanne), Michael (Ruth), Fred (Ann), and David (Dawn); ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401 with a Scripture Service to begin at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1000 West Lantana Road, Lantana, FL 33462, with the interment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either VITAS Innovative Hospice Care or the Alzheimer's Association.
