Not sure what to say?

It was my honor to get to know Jim during the last few years of his life. He was active in our church and helped start our Social Justice Advocacy Ministry. He was a strong voice for racial equity. I enjoyed our visits, both at his apartment and at his care facility. We enjoyed talking about northern Michigan - Crystal Lake and the surrounding area. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He left a big impact on everyone, I´m sure.

I have two favorite stories about Uncle Jim. First, when I was about ten or so (~1974), we were all at the beach at Crystal Lake. Dave & Steve were having sailing races with my older sister Sonja. I, being only ten years old, had no idea how to sail. But it looked fun. "Can I sail?" "No, you don't know how." "Yes I do!" So my sister dutifully put me in the Owl sailboat, launched me, told me to hold one hand here on the tiller and hold the main sheet in the other hand. Off I drifted...

Sending you all love. I have so many fond memories of Jim´s visits to Long Beach. He was a very charming man and always so fun to spend time with.

A kind and dear friend of our family, I have fond memories of growing up with the Meyer boys and Karen at Crystal Lake with Jim's presence always felt. He was always there for us when needed and provided a sense of comfort throughout the years. He was my go-to guy for the history of all things Crystal Lake. We will forever miss his white underwear drying on the clothesline next to our cottage.

To all the Meyer family, your neighbors at the lake are thinking of you and you have our deepest condolences. I hope we can raise a glass in his memory sometime this summer.

I am saddened to hear of Jim's passing. There are many fond memories of the years in Beloit and sharing time at Crystal Lake.

Through our years at Crystal, our families created a great life history. We are so sorry for the loss your Dad. We all will miss seeing him on the beach. Kim and Weezie Morris

With the Meyer family spread from coast to coast, our opportunities to visit are somewhat limited. I am remembering, however, a very pleasant evening spent with Jim and Tim in Chagrin Falls on my road trip in 2015, marred only by my normally friendly dog biting Jim's hand!
