Mr. Tommy was one of my dad's oldest friends. My dad worked with and for him throughout his younger years. At one point when my parents were young and struggling; Mr. Tommy gave them food and a roof over their head for nothing in return. My parents will forever be grateful for that. Tommy bought Brown Avenue Piggly Wiggly while I was working there (while attending Columbus College). Till I graduated in March of 1974, he made sure several of us attending college had our work schedules set to work around class times. I was one of the first male cashiers and as a college project produced a pamphlet for training cashiers for the store (on company time).
