I had the pleasure of working for McMoRan Expl. during their formative years (1972-76) & will always remember Jim Bob fondly. He was a class act and a great boss. I had the utmost respect for him and am proud to have been associated with him. He inspired me to stay in the oil and gas business and it served me well for 40 years. RIP Jim Bob & condolences to his family.

Mr. Moffet was a visionary. I started working for Freeport in 1988 and I had the chance to see his brilliance and the rolling of the dice. Main Pass 299 and Grasberg. It worked out when Grasberg became a reality. Thanks to an Indonesian who found the HEAT road (Heavy Equipment Access Trail). I spent 16 years at the mine and my family spent 9 years. Great schools, great management, great bonuses when we made money. These 16 years were some of the best of my life. Amazing management,...

Very sorry to hear that Jim Bob passed. He was a friend and generous supporter of our Longhorns. Pam and I have so many fun memories of him.

On the scroll down menu it asks what my relationship to Jim Bob was and I don’t know why Little Brother isn’t listed. I’m fortunate to have heard him call me Little Brother as many times as I did, a few times he even called me Uncle Neil. I cherish all the interactions I had with him while working at Barton Creek Resort. His wisdom, humorous one liners and the genuine look of care for me in his eyes I will never forget. Jim Bob was to me what Elvis was to him.
RIP Big Brother King Jim...
