Not sure what to say?

Having been penfriends for many years, it has always been a pleasure to receive James' letters, including all his poetry books. When my last letter, last year, remained unanswered, and when several months later, it came back to me, it could only have meant a sad news. This obituary confirmed it, and I now join my words to those of others to express my gratitude in having met such a gentleman, such a rich and clever character, and the fact that he will be missed. His poems entertained us all...

I cycled with Jim from northern Oregon to SanFrancisco in 1996. He was a very enthusiastic rider and enthusiastic about life. I am Canadian and Jim made me feel very welcome on the Cycle America tour. He was a good man!!!

I came to know Jim when he took my poetry writing class at Sacramento City College. He was a wonderful man, and I am glad I had the fortune to know him. I am so sorry for your loss.

Jim was a grand hiking & skiing companion .He & his good friend , Art Evans, were solid members of the Greatest Generation . Will always miss both.

I was so sorry to read about your Dad. I have many good memories of times spent with your Mom and Dad and I will treasure them! My heart goes out to your family. Rita Templin

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. We have missed him in the neighborhood; he was a beloved member for so many years and will be remembered. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
