I moved to Philadelphia in August of 1968 to attend graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania, and I was active for several years at Penn Newman when Fr. Murphy was the Chaplain. Murph, as we called him, allowed us a good bit of latitude with respect to doing some interesting liturgical things. For example, after the rock opera "Jesus Christ, Superstar" came out, we sang "Hosanna" from that musical at the Palm Sunday liturgy. When we decided it was time for women to be serving at...

To the Family, I only knew Fr. Jim for a short time, but he was a remarkable person who had a real insight to people. I will always remember the few visits I enjoyed with him. I am so sorry for our loss.Bob Niederriter
