Jamie is still the first childhood friend I lost too early... A gifted artist and great friend. Still stings 12 years later.

My earliest memory of us is at the cottage, and me climbing in your lap to take a nap on the front porch. And later that day you and my mom attempted to teach me how to cast my fishing pole, and you laughed so hard when I hooked my pants. Jamie had heightened perceptions, inquisitiveness, uncanny memory, a great sense of adventure and fun, patriotism, love of family and a willingness to help friends and strangers.
Without meaningful outlets, the pressure of these precious gifts, thoughts, images and feelings became painful to bear.
The things that may temporarily seem to alleviate this become in themselves the worst of snares and the ultimate destruction.
