I was honored to be his friend, from back in the Ann Arbor days at the University of Michigan in the late 60's when we were vibrant and righteous and committed to the (anti-war) movement and kicking open the doors of our minds in psychoanalysis. I will miss terribly his grace and his decency and his inquiry into the mysteries of being human.

I don't recall many professors at UMass Dartmouth like Jim Nee. He treated his students as peers -- fellow travelers on a journey seeking knowledge. I relished his classes and sincerely appreciate the time he encouraged (and allowed) me to present a video comparison of the camera compositions of Alfred Hitchcock and Brian de Palma to the class! I, and many of my peers at the Actors Studio MFA program, spent many a night walking and talking, or having a drink or two and talking, but always talking. A wonderfully written and well-earned send off in the Boston Globe. His smile will stay fondly in my memories.
