Mrs. Nelson,
This note is long, long, long, long overdue and I apologize for its lateness. I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your husband Dr. James C. Nelson, Jr. and I extend my heartfelt condolence to you and the family.
He was my condidant, my advisor, and my mentor during my years at Virginia State College. He was there to encourage me when encouragement was needed, and he taught me how to get along with others. I will always remember his kindness.
