I never told my grandfather, and perhaps the analogy eluded me until today, but Fodder was an embodiment of Twain's Huck Finn. Everything he did, everywhere he went, was an adventure and he drew out all that life offered. I was party to a handful of those adventures, and profound sorrow strikes me with the knowledge that there will be no more. The world is truly less bright with his departure, but I take comfort in knowing the body that became so limiting constrains him no longer.
