Not sure what to say?

I worked w/Dr. Nolan for 8 years; he was a great employer and & fantastic surgeon! I loved working with him. I left the clinic in 1997 to move out of state to live in the desert where my husbands' family lived. When I had a son while in the desert & he sent the BEST congratulatory card & writing in it "from Uncle Jim". I still have it. I will always miss him. REST IN PEACE. Shannon.

I was shocked when my annual holiday card was returned. Though we only spoke about once a year since he moved back west, Jim was a dear friend with whom our friendship never wavered since the years we lived together as struggled together as surgical residents. He worked as hard as he played, and it was always a pleasure to interact with someone with the depth of thought and concern for man and the world as Jim. Boy, will I miss him.

I worked for Dr.Nolan for many years @ Providence. I just found out about his passing and am heartbroken! He was a wonderful man & employer! He had so much loss in recent years losing Pat & Elizabeth, I can´t imagine his pain. My condolences & prayers go out to Matthew & Willy & extended his family.

To Matt and Willie: my sincere condolence to you both. I have very fond memories of your family on NE 27 th. Willie was part family to us. Your Dad had a funny sense of humor! I can't recall some of his sayings, but I am sure you know.... Would enjoy a visit anytime you are back in Portland. Still 2 houses north of your childhood home. Peggy Donovan

I met Jim through Pat when they owned the penthouse at the Fontaine, and they were renovating it. We crossed paths occasionally and Pat and I frequently ran into each other at Starbucks or on the roof of the Fontaine. Jim and I met once and he was very eloquent in his love for Pat. That stayed with me. I am sorry to have hear of his passing.

My favorite Jim Nolan story: late one night at the OHSU Medical Frat, Jim came to me saying that he desparately had to immediately hear an album - Jimmy Cliff's reggae sound track "The Harder They Come". This would have been in about 1976, long before any music on demand was available. It was about 11 pm, and the Crystal Ship store downtown was open till midnight. I had a car, and we made it before closing, purchased the LP, and listened to it well into the am. To this day, it remains one of...

As a colleague I enjoyed Jim greatly. He was never at a loss for words and always had something curiously interesting to say. His kindness and affability were up front. He was intensely devoted to his patients. I will miss Jim as will, I am sure, everyone who ever knew him. There is a faint sound of energetic jazz piano coming from up high.

I have many memories of Jimmy Nolan. We were class mates and as Public School kids who were members of Saint Anthony´s Catholic Church in Tigard we also were in the same CCD classes on Saturday or Sundays When we 13 years old we were trained as Altar Boys and served our church in that capacity. In the summer of 1965 Jim´s oldest Sister was getting Married and I was asked to assist Jim as an Altar-boy for the Affair. Jim´s family lived at the end of SW 55th place high on a hill overlooking...

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to occasionally work with Jim in recent years. He was always intensely curious about people, and often had some thought-provoking question - along with a great sense of humor. My deep condolences to his family and friends; I will miss him.
