James Joseph Octave, 63, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 14, 1947, in Greensburg, a son of the late William and Diva Stefanini Octave. Prior to his retirement, Jim was the business manager for the Jeannette School District, where he also taught history. He was a graduate of the Jeannette Class of '65, a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church in North Huntingdon, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1222, the M&S Club and its Bocce League, and the Italian Club, all of Jeannette. Jim also was an avid bowler, golfer and enjoyed camping. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Huffman Octave; a son, Christopher James Octave, of Greensburg; a daughter, Kelly Lynn Octave, of Jeannette, and her fiance Velmere Green; two grandsons, Cameron and Malachi James; three brothers, Dr. William Octave and his wife Maryln, of Greensburg, Thomas Octave and his wife Joyce, of Monessen, and Jerome Octave and his wife, Patricia, of Grafton, W.Va.; a niece, Sharon Pugliese and her husband Anthony, of Jeannette; his little buddy, Evan Pugliese; a goddaughter, Gina Octave Parker, of Melbourne, Fla.; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to noon Monday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. A funeral service will take place at noon Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Aaron Garber and Robert Weber co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Transplant Assistance Fund, 150 N. Radnor Chester Road, Radnor, PA 19087 or a charity of your personal choice.
