Not sure what to say?

Having just heard of Jim's passing, I convey my deepest condolences and hearfelt prayers. Years, and I mean MANY, years ago, my sister was a post-doctoral TA in the biological sciences department of Illinois State University and was good friends with Jim. She spoke of him incessently and deemed him one of the, if not THE, most intelligent, witty and genuinely warm individuals she had every ecountered. She often indicated that her time in Normal was made bearable because of the likes of...

In loving memory of a wonderful person. He was always so kind to me at llinois State. My friends and I were lucky to have known him.

I knew Jim in college. We called him “ Cave”. ( not sure why). He was such a sweet guy. I remember he saved a mouse from one of the labs, named her Ophelia and kept her as a pet. Lost touch after college but not v the good memories. Prayers and sympathy for a truly nice person

Grove of 35 Memorial Trees

Jim was a great scientist and mentor. His help advanced my growth as a scientist and as a person. I am so glad to have had a great leader in my science career. He was also jovial and insightful. I appreciate every nugget of wisdom and silly joke he gave.

Thank you Jim!

James DAVID Offord

Jim was a man of intellect who did not suffer fools gladly. He was a man who married his college sweetheart and stayed with her forever. She was his his rock and they had two daughters that he loved dearly. He was a midwestern man of integrity and hard work. He was the most brilliant man I have ever personally met. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled.

Jim was a terrific colleague and friend and will always be remembered by the UM Department of Pharmacology. Our prayers go out to his family. May his memory always be a blessing.
