Not sure what to say?

I am third on the left in Photo, 1954, Korea.

Jim, I knew you since 1938. We were schoolmates at ASIJ. I remember being a guest at your home in Tokyo, where your lovely Mom served us waffles in a salmon sauce for lunch. I also remember your birthday party there. I also remember becoming reacquainted with you during the Occupation, when you lived in Narimasu. What memories!

While I did not know this wonderful father, I am acquainted with his son. Now I know why he is such a good person, compassionate health practitioner, and fine musician.

My father, taught me what it means to be a man, to be kind, just, compassionate, and to find wonder and fascination in the world around me....and to laugh.

Jim was my beloved brother and one of the nicest people I have ever known.

Jim was a gentle soul with an amused smile and a warm hug. He told me that he still dreamed in Japanese.

Sorry for your loss! we are holding you in the light

No obituary could do Jim justice. He was one in a million, and wise about himself, his family, his friends. He lived a wonderfully whole life which was complete in every way, including his incredible generosity.

I worked for Jim for 6 years at the NY Fed. He was humane and brilliant. I certainly agree with the last line of the obituary regarding his sense of humor.

Jim was a favorite Reserve System lawyer. He was an exceptionally luminous civilizing influence in an institution that needed it. We could have used more like him.
