James M. Ortwein

James M Ortwein, 87, of Coopersburg, formerly of Hellertown, and Port Charlotte, FL Died on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. He was born in Bethlehem and was the son of the late Stephan and Mary ( Holletz) Ortwein. Jim was married to Ruth E. ( Dilts ) Ortwein with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage this past October. Jim worked for Bethlehem Steel as a foreman in the #6 Machine Shop retiring in 1980 after 40 years service. He was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, the V.F.W. and American Legion in Hellertown where he was a past commander, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Murdock, FL and a member of the Elks Lodge 2606 in Punto Gorda, Fl. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth E. (Dilts) Ortwein of Coopersburg, daughter Stephanie D. Velez and husband Raymond of Coopersburg, a son James J. Ortwein and wife Erica of Allentown, three grandchildren, Jennifer Sell and husband Jeffrey, Eric Ortwein and wife Gina and Brendan Ortwein, two great grandchildren Trent Ortwein and Austin Sell. Jim is predeceased by his parents, a son David Ortwein who died in 1980 and a sister Marie Charni.
