Shreveport, LA- A memorial service will be held in honor of James Forrest Paddie, 74, on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport.
James passed away July 7, 2013, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He grew up in Benson, Louisiana, attended Pelican High School and Northwestern State University. He moved to Shreveport after marrying his high school sweetheart, Ruth, and they had 53 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Karla Ingram of Memphis, Tennessee and Debra Cline of Shreveport; and three granddaughters, Jessica Houston, Rachel Cline and Emily Cline.
Throughout James' lifetime, he excelled at many sports and was most recently a highly decorated track athlete. He competed in the Master's Track circuit across the United States from California to Massachusetts; and from Canada to Hawaii, winning dozens of gold and silver medals.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online words of comfort may be shared at www. centuriesmemorialfh.com.

James Paddie will always be my track idol. He and I often talked about how much we both enjoyed running when we worked out at Schumpert Wellness. He was so humble and gifted. All who know James will miss him. God bless him and his family. Keep the faith as we will all soon meet again!

I'm very sorry to hear about Jame's passing. I competed with him in Master's track and field. He was a world champion who was a pleasure to be around. He was humble, always pleasant, compimentary and he always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.

Ruth - I'm sorry to know of your husband's passing. He must have been a great husband and friend. I lost my husband only a month ago after being a caregiver for 7 years. You probably had a similar experience. Thinking of you as you and your family navigate through this hectic, sorrowful time. Wishing all of you peace with happy memories.
