Not sure what to say?

I miss Tony like crazy; he was my roommate at Oglethorpe (1957-) and I learned much from him; he was a superb student. (And we both became college professors! He was great friend and colleague.) My sincere on-going thoughts to all his friends and family.

Dr. Paredes was a professor worth emulating when it was my turn in Academia

Dr. Paredes was a true professional that brought his personal passion to his students and his teaching. When I was offered the opportunity to spend a week in Arizona at a Navajo BIA school, Tony organized an evening session designed to prepare me to understand the students and staff with whom I would be working. His is a spirit that will be missed but his enthusiasm will be carried forth by those whose lives he has touched.

Dr. Paredes offered much positive feedback to me when I was a new FSU anthropology student in the 1970s and took an interest in my academic progress even though I was taking more classes in physical than cultural. He cared about his students as individuals, He was a gentleman and all around nice guy. I know his family has many warm memories to share.

I am shocked by this news. My name is W. Otis Halfmoon. Tony and I were both at Indian Circle in 1968..he was a teacher, and I was a student. This was at Mahnoman, Minnesota. He was my friend. My e-mail is [email protected]

Dr. Paredes really had an impact on my professional and personal life, I was very saddened to hear of his passing. He was an incredible mentor for me at FSU, and it were not for his support and encouragement I might not have made it through! I will value the wisdom, humor, generosity, and patience he had and hope I carry forth some of those same traits in my own life. He had an impact in this world and he will be missed and remembered by many.

I had the pleasure of meetng Tony and Aileen several times. He was charming, witty, intelligent and a gentleman. I know his family will always treasure their memories of Tony and those memories will be their greatest comfort.

I'm thankful for the the things I learned in Tony's classes and greatful for his support and encouragement while a student at FSU. May his family and friends find peace.

It is hard to fathom that such a powerful life force has been silenced. Having known and worked with Tony since 1979 I know how much my life has been enriched first as a student and later as a colleague and friend. Now as I reflect on these decades I know his life force has not been ended but it continues on within all those he touched. Thank you Tony.
