Jim was such a polite, thoughtful, civic minded young man when I knew him in high school. I remember they cut him off from donating blood because he had donated the max amount! I'm not surprised to read of his outstanding life of service to country, community & family in his adult years. I'm so sorry for his family and friends in their loss.

Jim was the first-- and last -- boy I ever kicked. I met him the first day of third grade, when I was the desperately shy new kid from California and he was the laid back and hip kid who had been at that school for two years already. I think I tormented the heck out of him, and he was always patient and kind. I didn't realize what a rare trait that was in a third grader until I started teaching third graders.
