Not sure what to say?

Jim was always willing to talk genealogy and penmanship. Never offended, always a kind and gentle friend. Such a loss to so many of us genealogists.

Mary and family, I am so sorry to hear of your staggering loss. Jim was a major contributor to our field, and his scholarly work will live on. --- Tom Jones

Mary and family, our deepest condolences on the loss of this great man. Your family was our "welcome wagon" to SLC back in 1980 and we have appreciated you ever since. I admired Jim for his honest and dedicated service in our mutual field. I always appreciated his advice and was happy to see him succeed in his career. Thank you for the wonderful tribute to this great man. May the Lord keep and console you until that great reunion you all deserve

Dear Petty Family,

Cindy, Doug, Janice, and Deborah, we were like family growing up in Park Ward. I have many fond memories of you all! So sorry to hear of Jim's Passing, but he is just leading the way for all of us. And he was a valiant leader for us all. The world is a better place because of James Winter Petty! He has passed on but he is not forgotten. Condolences to each of you and his family too!

With Love, Richard and Frankie Reimschussel

Condolences from your Volker cousins.

We miss you Jim Dear. You have been a light to all and a wonderful Brother-in-love to me for almost my whole life! I have always been grateful you joined our family. You have been kind and accepting to all! I know there are many on the other side who were absolutely thrilled to meet the man to helped them to be found. Sending lots of love to you Mary and kids, from your sister and (favorite) Auntie Lips ❤
