Not sure what to say?

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Although I moved out of Billings in 1987, I was able to keep up on the Montana environmental news through Jim's reports in The Flyer. He was able to communicate his passion for wildlife and inspire others through his words. He will be missed. I am thankful to have known him.

Dear Clara and Martha,

So sad to hear that Jim never got better after my phone call to you before I left Billings. So very glad I got to see him while home my last two visits. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have a good understanding of how you are feeling.

Clara, Martha and family,

I so remember Mr. Phelps way back when in Jobs Daughters and the smiles he always had for me and his continual encouragement for me to go for my dreams. I pray that your memories bring you comfort.

I'm so happy to have met you and listen to the stories you told. You were so lucky to have lived such a long and wonderfull life. My deepest sympathys go to Clara, James, Martha and all his grandchildren and great granchildren and all the family.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of our entire staff are with you at this time of sorrow. I will always remember Jim and his wonderful sense of humor. He will truely be missed.

Clara and family: We are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a role model for those who want to make a difference in the world. He will always be one of our heroes. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Sandy and Bill Shikany

We feel deep regret at this loss of Jim. Clara, you have our condolence and prayers. One of the things we were looking forward to was returning to Montana and visiting with Jim and Clara. Jim was a good man and we will miss him. Chanh and Robert Cooper, Vietnam

My condolences to the Phelps family. I believe that I attended St. Anthony school in Pocatello with his son, then known as Jimmy.
My father also worked for the Union Pacific railroad in Pocatello as a locomotive engineer. Dad has been deceased for ten years, so I know how difficult it is to lose a parent. His name was Bernard (Bun) Patterson.

Sincerely, Lynda Patterson Forcella
