Those of us that hung around John & Jim, "Bernies'" twin sons, used to refer to the senior Ploechl as "Bernie," behind his back of course.It was funny at the time but maybe you had to be there. He was a no nonsense guy who was a great provider for his family. His work ethic was clearly evident in the kids. While "Bernie" could fool most with his bark it is his grin that I'll remember as it lives on in his son John, my "goomba." My favorite "Bernie" recollection? Easy. It was him handing over...
