There's no doubt about it! We are all going to go! It's only a matter of when and where!

But when someone like Jim Poffenberger leaves us, it's a tragedy for all of us left behind.

Jim was a scholar of great renown and a great friend of all CIGRE members. His contribution to the International Electricity Supply Industry in Australia and overseas is well known and greatly respected.

Jim was my mate and it's not long before I will go to meet him again.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I worked under Jim from 1960 to his retirement in the mid 80's. He was a fine boss who always had an open mind to our discussions. His contributions in the field conductor vibration are well known throughout the utility industry.

It is with great sadness to announce the passing away of Jim Cameron Poffenberger. Jim was one of the last of the great generation of transmission line engineers on whose shoulders and achievements the expansion of the High Voltage overhead line grid worldwide after the 2nd world war, where Jim has served as an officer in the US Army Air Corps, has been based.
