James Melvin “JimBob” Proctor, 72, died Sunday, November 4, 2018 . Born in Newport News, he was a lifelong Peninsula resident and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He served his country in the US Navy, then went to work for Bell Atlantic, retiring as a lineman in 1999 after 30 years. JimBob enjoyed bowling, but loved gambling, especially horse racing so much that he went to work at Colonial Downs. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
Preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and James Proctor, his brother James Christian Proctor and his sister, Judy Proctor; survivors include his wife of 28 years, Cydnee J. Proctor; his daughter, Kimberly Proctor; his step-son, Marty Roberts and his wife, Heather; and his granddaughter, Madison Roberts.
The family requests that memorials be made to the St. Joseph Food Pantry, 512 Buckroe Ave, Hampton, VA 23664 as this was dear to his heart.
