JAMES RAMSEY

I remember my mentor with great fondness. Our meetings at his NYU office, the lunch time at the Indian restaurant, the coffe breaks at Orens, the conferences in Oviedo and Helsinki (with Kate), but, especially, his trip to Italy with Kate when, after spending a few days in my town, we went to Naples, Pompei and Ercolano for a whole week are wonderful memories.
It was my pleasure and honor to be your co-author and friend.

Dear Kate,
I just saw that James passed away. He was a great inspiration for me, as a teacher on nonlinear econometrics and as a human being; friendly, very balanced, and noble. The nonlinear econometrics group will miss an inspiring thinker and mentor.
