I had Mr. Ridgeway in 1963, his first year of teaching, the year of Kennedy's assasination. Reading the memories of others, I guess he remained the cheerful, enthusiastic educator I remember. He introduced me to Mark Twain, and to this day, Samuel Clements is a favorite. One person can make a difference in so many others lives. Your father/husband is proof of that. This picture you have posted of him is amazing - the teacher I remember fondly even 50 years later. Thanks for keeping the...

Mr. Ridgeway was a fine teacher.
He helped me secure a yearbook when I learned midway through the school year, after sales were closed, that I would be moving away. In it he wrote (in June 1975) "Always remember how you got this yearbook because I'm sure that you'll find most people will respond to a sincere dilema." He was right. Rest in peace

Angel, I was one of Jim's helpers at the old fish market in downtown Phoenix from 1965 to 1968. I have many happy memories of friday night fish fries, Festus and Bertha's. Please accept my sympathy on his passing.

Jim was such a joy to be around. He always made me laugh and treated me like family. I loved every time I spent with him. May the Lord comfort you and bless you this holiday season. You will see Jim, your dad, your grandpa, friend and husband in heaven. John 3:16

Mr. Ridgeway was our handicap son, Gregory's, 7th and 8th Grade English teacher to whom he was always kind, patient, and encourging. He has a special place in ours and Gregory's hearts. He is surely with with God now.

To the Ridgeway family:
Sincere condolences for your loss. Although I didn't know him that well, for many years Jim graciously extended his permission for me to hunt turkeys on his property and I've always appreciated that. On occasion, we did pass some time discussing the issues of the world on his front lawn and the talk was always lively. May he rest in peace.
