Not sure what to say?

My sincerest condolences to Capt. Rodgers´ family. I served with him during his tour at Navy Recruiting District, San Francisco. I was good, HE made me better and because of that, I served nine years of my career as a Master Chief. As others have said, I was nurtured by his sincere energy and used much of what leadership I learned from HIM for other careers too, after I retired. Chiefs have always taken care of their officers, but there a few, very few, that you stand by as a privilege, not a...

Am devastated by the loss of both Jimmy and Charlie, my first cousins. Within 3 months of each other. Last saw Jimmy in 2001 when he visited mother & me. Requiescat in Pacem, Cousins.

I served under Capt. Rodgers aboard the USS Clarion River during 1967-1968. It wasn´t until I met the Skipper during a ship reunion in Nashville that I had a chance to learn about his career and what a wonderful man and leader he was. Our deepest sympathies to his wife BJ and his entire family. May he rest in peace and we look forward to seeing him again in a far better place. Our prayers to all.

Jimbo...Your distant First Cousin Fred Wheeler just learned, belatedly, of your homeward journey to our heavenly Father, today, June 20th. And Charlie! Eternal rest grant unto Jim and Charlie, oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them...may their Souls and all the Souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace, Amen.

J will miss my friend and mentor so very much. His happy ways. Always presented you with a smile. God bless you my friend.

I know there is little I can say to ease the searing ache in your heart...God promises us that our goodbyes here on earth are not forever but rather just for right now...and the 'right now' makes it hard to breathe. Always know, you have a group of friends that love you so much. We will circle our wagons around you until you are able to see the sunshine again. Sending you my love and prayers, (anytime, anywhere, anything...always)

To Captain Rodgers, BJ and all his daughters:

Timothy IV: 7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.

Henceforth there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for His appearing.

Requiscat in Pacem.

May you always have Fair winds and Following seas Captain.
