Not sure what to say?

I was one of the cadets at William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. I don't believe that Col. Rogers knew how many young lives he had influenced in so many positive ways. Each of us can only aspire to achieve such a lasting legacy.

I cannot express how it feels to read the wonderful comments all of you have left about my father. My mother, brothers and I always knew he was a great man, but to hear it from his friends, co-workers and former students is very touching. He left a lasting impression on all that he encountered. Thanks to each and every one of you for your moving tributes.

My grandfather, Capt. Power, was a friend of Col. Rogers and taught with him at the academy. I visited the academy a handful of times in my life and every time Col. Rogers would tell me that when I was born that I was small enough to fit in a shoe box and even when I was 15 he told me the same story. He was always warm and welcoming. I found out too late to make it to any services but my thoughts and prayers are with the family and hope they know how many people Col. Rogers left an impression...

He walked on this earth as a man of God, and now he is living in His glory.
Thank you Col. Rogers, for the great memories at SMA. And to Jeff, so many kids looked to your dad as a father figure, but none can feel the loss as you do. He was loved by many and respected by all. God Bless you and your family. The memories shall forever live in my heart.

I first met Col. Rogers in 1966. As an instructor, mentor, and friend. I could not have known a finer example of a man. I also saw how he carried these traits into his personal life, and his influence caused me to seek and hold public office. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy to us is to set the bar a little higher. God speed Col. You indeed fought the good fight.

Jeff,
My deepest sympathy to your family for the loss of your father. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was a cadet in jrotc at William Chrisman H.S. during 1966-1968 when Col Rogers was Senior Army Instructor there. He instilled in myself and all cadets lessons to be learned throughout life. His leadership and teaching was top level. He was one of the toughest most rugged men I have known, yet was a family man of the highest caliber. He was truly a great man and will be missed.

I worked with LTC Rogers and he was a great man and a good freind. I pray for his family.

I worked for Col. Rogers for six years, from 1986 through 1991. The example he set for me and the lessons he taught me have permanently shaped me into a better person. The generous guidance and direction he gave me will last all of my life, and as his employee, I believe to have benefited from his positive influence to the same degree as his beloved cadets have done. I shall always be grateful for having known this wonderful man, who was a natural leader and a true hero in every sense of the...
