I attended Burges H.S. from the first year it opened in 1955 and was among those who graduated in 1959 as the first four year graduating class. While attending Burges, I played in several sports activities; Football, Basketball, & Baseball & in my experience in these sporting activities I encountered Coach Russell as a man of integrity, honesty, & a man who truly cared for his athletes as young people who needed to be encouraged, cared for, & if need be, reprimanded. I know persoanlly he made...

Coach Russell was a man's man...a wonderful teacher and gifted trainer. He kept many a lame pony in the fight...his strong hands taped our sprained ankles on the basketball team as well as all team sports. Generous with his advise on how to proceed with the recovery process and encourage return visits until we were fully mended. His presense during our games was always a plus because as young kids we looked up to this true gentleman. Thanks Mr. Russell. My most profound condolences to your...

I have to say he was my favorite teacher at Burgess and I was blessed to have taken all four years of his drafting classes. He was a great teacher, mentor, and role model. He will always be remembered as one of the finest people I've had the privilege to know.

Coach Russell taught me mechanical drawing I at Burges 1963-64, a fine man. Since I was a senior in an otherwise freshman class he gave a list of all the drawings that I needed to class over Christmas break. Well I did them all bythe time school started again in January thinking I could rest for the remainder of the. Year! Ah ! He called me into his office after. A week of leisure and handed me the second year book and told me I was behind ! Great man I did finish the second year course with...
