James Satterfield

I just met Jim this year when I gave a bee talk at his retirement home. He was a beekeeper who I only knew online and had learned so much from his beekeeping website he kept while he was a Georgia State. I'm so sad to see he has passed away. It was an honor to meet him totally unexpectedly in person this year almost 20 years after I started keeping bees. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to tell him in person how much he had meant to me and how much I had learned from him indirectly.

I was one of the many students who studied biology at Georgia State University under the direction of Jim Satterfield. He was a wonderful, engaging teacher and a fascinating man. I was so fortunate to have met him. May his family and friends be comforted and blessed by his memory and may his soul rest in peace.
