Rev. Dr. James "Jim" Henry Savage moved to paradise, to a home "not made with hands" but "eternal in the heavens" on January 24, 2026. He is the recipient of a "kingdom which cannot be shaken" and the "crown of righteousness" after finishing his race in faith. He will be sorely missed by those...

Not sure what to say?

We knew Jim and Sherri from our years at Jacksonville State University. We spent a lot of time with both of them. Sherri and Karen were roommates at JSU and were part of each other´s weddings. After college we still spent some time with each other. We are very saddened to hear about Jim´s passing. We are praying for the family.

So sorry for the pain associated with his loss here on earth but so very happy for him to be face to face with Jesus and being with Sherri again. Jim was always So kind and caring when he saw me either at RUMC or at Central State Bank and it was so genuine! I truly felt the love of Jesus thru him. My prayers will be with those left behind for Gods peace to wrap you up!

So sorry for the loss of Jimmy. He was a wonderful friend to so many people and I know you will miss him so much. Thank you for keeping all of us informed and I will be praying for the family!

So sad to hear. Jim was a great guy and Wonderful pastor for our family. He brought hope and light and inspiration and joy and wisdom to the world and the world is a poorer place without him.

I am so very saddened to hear this. It seems like only yesterday that I ran into him at Panera Bread. I can honestly say...and I told him this...he brought me back to God. I had been away from church for a while and the first time I heard him preach he told a story (he was a great storyteller) about how God was kind of like when you´re a kid playing in the woods when you realize you´re lost and you start running around like crazy trying to find a familiar place, and the moment you do - you...

My condolences to the Savage family and friends in this time of grief. May the memories shared fill your hearts with joy during this difficult time

Deeply grateful for his life and ministry. S T Kimbrough, Jr.

My family and I moved to Hoover in 2007 and began attending Riverchase. I remember meeting Jim for the first time as he greeted us. As he often did, he made a joke about my height and my last name. What I did not realize in that moment was that Jim would become not only my pastor, but also my ministry mentor as I responded to God´s call to ordained ministry. I am grateful that Jim allowed me to participate in the ministry of Riverchase-to make mistakes, to learn, to grow, and to develop my...

I have many fond memories way back in the day when we gathered together for holidays and family reunions. Jim was always so kind and fun to be around. He was an "old soul " as I remember him. I miss those days! I know he will be sorely missed! Hard days are ahead and I´ll be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers! Hugs and love to all of you!!
