Not sure what to say?

I still miss him almost five years later. I remember how interested he made me in science and medicine. I was so young, and he was telling me about umami taste receptors, and how they let us taste savory flavors in food. That was so cool to me, to know how we taste food on a basic level. I remember him teaching me about galactose from milk. Even so many years ago he was still ahead of the curve. I learned so much about how to talk to people from him. I learned appreciation for foods. I...

I just came across this site and saw Dr Schaller had passed. He delivered all 3 of my children and was so happy my 3rd was finally a girl! He was a wonderful doctor and treated me with the utmost caring respect. I always looked forward to every appointment at the Smylie Times bldg because he had something informative to tell this then young 24 year old. Rest in peace!

Dear Marianne and Family,
I am sorry to hear of Dr. Jim's passing. Unfortunately, Tamika and I could not be with you on the day of the funeral. We send you our sympathy and may the memories of Dr. Jim help you find peace.

So sorry for your lost

I was very young when I first went to Dr. Schaller. He always made me feel very comfortable because of the gentle way treated me. I always enjoyed reading the very informative papers he gave me! Not many Doctors are as caring as Dr. Schaller was. I will remember him in my Rosary and at Mass. May our Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around the Schaller family and comfort them.

Dear Marianne and Family,
I was so sorry to read of Jim's passing. Unfortunately, I could not be with you on the day of Jim's funeral. I will be eternally grateful to you and Jim for the birth of our children. We send you our love and deepest sympathy.

I remember meeting Jim Schaller in Paris a long time ago and instantly connected with he and Marianne. He was a fine and good man. I am sorry that I had not seen more of him over the years and I wish that I could have told him how much I enjoyed his books.

Dr Schaller delivered 3 of my five children Dr Vasalotti took care of the other 2 I remember when my son Joseph the good Doctor was down in the lounge reading said it would be awhile all of a sudden Joseph was coming and they call for the Dr to come up right away and when I looked down he was standing in his banlon socks he forgot his shoes. When question about where his shoes were he said when you got to go you got to go.Truly a fine Doctor who had his Catholic Faith to help him. RIP Doc!!

Wish I could be there but Dad and I discussed it and he told me what I was doing over here was more important. I know he is proud of me, and all that is good about me I learned from watching him. I will miss the great conversationalist. And know there will most likely not be an empty seat in the church. I ask that all who read this look out for my Mom. She is a tough one, but losing your best friend is the heaviest of crosses. See you on the other side Dad, but hopefully it will be awhile....
