JAMES SCHEERER Obituary

JAMES E. SCHEERER, 75, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Roann, Ind., he was a US Air Force Veteran and worked as an Operations Supervisor with the Indiana National Guard for 42 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of American Legion Post 241 and Jacob's Well Church. Surviving are his daughters, Pamela (Michael) Reid of Indianapolis, Lori Beneke and Leslie (Jake) Miller all of Fort Wayne; son, David (Donna) Scheerer of Fort Wayne; sister, Norma (Larry) Richardson of Russiaville, Ind.; brothers, Todd (Bonnie) Scheerer of Woodburn and Michael Scheerer of Russiaville; grandchildren, Andrew Reid, Aimee Stir, Brandon Beneke, Jessica Beneke, Brent Scheerer, Calen Scheerer, Carly Scheerer, Olivia Scheerer, Adam Daniels, and Derek Daniels; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Scheerer and Lora Rose; and wife, Shirley Scheerer. Service is 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Rev. David Adams officiating, Calling also from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Jacob's Well Church, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or the American Legion Color Guard Post 241.
