I just found out about Coach Segrest passing, the news gives me a very heavy heart. Coach's ability to get the most out of his track and field athletes at Permian was simply phenomenal. Under his guidance and leadership, we went on to capture District and Regional championships and a fourth place finish at the State Meet. Coach was a true inspiration to many young men. Coach Segrest not only personally did well in track and field, in the fall of 1972, he gather seven young men together to form the cross-country team. Three sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
