He then served as a First Lieutenant in the army during the Korean War. It was while assigned to a surgeon in Korea that he became interested in medicine. After his discharge from the army he attended the University of Wisconsin where he met his wife, Patricia (Goetz). They were married at the University of Wisconsin St. Paul Catholic Chapel on August 9, 1958. Dr. Sheehy graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed residencies at St. Joseph (Flint), McLaren and Henry Ford Hospitals specializing in Urology. He was a Fellow in the American College of Surgery and Board Certified in Urology.
