I was saddened to hear of Mr. Sheeran's death. I was 6 years old when I last saw him. I was helping my Dad, Captain Joseph J. Hanaway (West Orange Fire Department) , distribute pot holders with Mr. Sheeran's face pictured on it for candidacy for mayor of our town. My Dad, a WWII veteran too, were men of character, integrity, and valor. My prayers for the repose of Mr. Sheeran's soul and consolation for his family. God love him! Father Kevin P. Hanaway

I just finished Mr Sheeran's memoirs of his escape from German captivity, his time in the 101st. I am in awe of the courage he and his friends showed at a time of crisis for freedom. His loss is felt by many who never knew him. He was blessed to have come from a family who loved him and to have maintained his faith throughout a difficult time in his youth under fire. I have studied WWII, traveled throughout Normandy and through Champagne where my own grandfather fought in WWI, and where Mr...

Know that you are in my prayers during your difficult time. Commissioner Sheeran was an excellent example of a public servant. He was also a great hockey fan. May the good times that you had with him bring you peace.

I was so very blessed to have known Mr. Sheeran. His presence lit up a room like no other. He was a man of great conviction and he was fiercly proud of his family. I have not seen him for many years, but still can hear his laugh and him calling for "Lena" around the office. It always made my day to see him. I know he will be greatly missed and my thoughts are with you all. My memories of him will always be treasured. I am immensely proud to have been in the employ and acquiantance of...

Dear Family: Jim's father, Jack, introduced my father to my mother, Raymonde Duviol whom he had met in France after the WW1 armistice was signed. My mother and Lucy Sheeran, both being French, became good friends here in the USA. Our family from East Orange, would visit the Sheeran family in West Orange when Jim and his siblings were of grammar school age. An uncle of mine who was a priest in a Jersey City parish organized a clothing and food drive for Jim's cause of providing for the...

My mother Maureen O'Malley De Rose was your cousin. I recall fond memories of visits to your home as a child. As an adult, I remember the wonderful family reunions at your Princeton home. My husband Don and I considered you to be a very special person. Our hearts go out to your wife Lena and your entire family. Our prayers are with them.
I am sure my mother and her dear brother Edward O'Malley greeted you with a bright Irish smile when
you arrived in Heaven.
