JAMES HOWE SHERMAN

Professor Sherman was an inspirational educator. His ability to teach, was outstanding. I truly enjoyed being his student.

My wife Ruth and I own No. 3 Ruthven Place, which we rent out for now, but maintain the yard. I got to know Jim in the last few years when our trees fell in his yard and his fell in ours, and occasionally when heavy snow needed shoveling. He was always polite but anxious to get back to whatever history topic had his fancy at the moment. So when I saw he was studying U.S. Grant, I brushed up on the topic and had some fun conversations. He was a delightful man.
