Not sure what to say?

My sincerest sympathy for your loss. Jim was such a wonderful help to us in keeping tabs on our old friend Natalie Matovinovic. He was so kind in answering my calls for help.

I just wrote him an email at his old UofM address, but now I know, that I cannot expect an answer.

If you have a moment in these difficult personal times, I would greatly appreciate YOUR email address or perhaps your son Mark's...he was a friend of my son, Rob in school.

Just learned of Jim's death. It was my honor and privilege to serve as his pastor for a decade following his retirement. His humility, equipoise, and mischievous sense of humor lightened and enlightened many a discussion and day.

I am extremely sorry to hear the passing of Dr. Sisson. I have known him for over 45 years. He was kind and always very helpful. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim and I shared a room together our first year in Medical School in 1950-51. We formed a friendship that had lasted until his death. He was the real deal. Extremely intelligent, kind, humble , patient, hardworking , loyal, dependable are just a few of the adjectives I use to describe a remarkable human being.

I was so fortunate in knowing him And his wonderful wife Doris.

I first met Jim when I joined the Internal Medicine faculty at Michigan in 1988 and had many great meetings with him over the years. He was a truly great physician and an even better person. He will be sorely missed.

I've had the privilege of training under both Dr. James Sisson and his son Tom. He was generous with his time, infinitely patient with our questions (even though he must have answered them thousands of times before). He left an immeasurable legacy in the care he provided his patients and the students/physicians he trained. Warmest thoughts to the Sisson family!

I never knew him at all but his picture in the obituary shows the kindest man I have seen. You who knew him were fortunate indeed.

Dear Doris, Tom, Matt, Mark: So sorry to learn about Jim. I feel honored and blessed to have known Jim for 30 years. Always a pleasure to be around and a lively but modest wealth of information. He was indescribably helpful in my career at UM both as fellow and faculty. I describe Jim as an all around great guy. We are all so fortunate to have had him as a mentor, colleague, and friend.

Dear Doris, Tom and family

Dr. Sisson was a great mentor and role model for me. He was a luminary in the field of thyroid cancer radioiodine therapy, and guided my early steps in nuclear medicine. His writing style was concise and effective and his ideas continue to influence the field of radioiodine therapeutics. Dr. Sisson was indeed a gentle giant in medicine and he touched the lives of countless patients and generations of trainees. I will always remember the conversations with...
