Dear Tony,
I was out of the country when Jim joined the Bivouac of the Dead; I was told of his death yesterday by Dave Nelson. May he be with God! And in view of all his kindnesses and generosity of spirit--even if they were just the ones I was the fortunate recipient of--I have no doubt that that's where he is today, hopefully looking up all the Boys whose traps he so lovingly acquired, shared, and preserved. He and you will be in my prayers.

Just heard about your loss of Jim. I know that he had been in ill health for some time. Joe and I send our deepest sympathy. I will let others at the historical society know of Jim's passing. We remember all the good times and laughs we shared. We pray that Jim is now at peace.
