My family moved across the street from the Stander family in 1954. Jim and I went on many bike rides together to Johnson Park buying a nickel coke at the bottling plant near John Ball Park as well as to Lamont. We played endless catch with a softball with no cover. We only would stop when visibility was too poor. Jim and I also learned tennis together on the Oakleigh Junior High School tennis courts. Jim's game far surpassed mine over time. So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was one day older than my brother and our family lived around the corner from Haynes where he grew up.
I also graduated from high school with Gwen, Many many years ago we all grew up together. God bless all of Jim's family and best wishes from Grand Rapids Mi.
