Not sure what to say?

Jim was my friend and mentor as a swim official. He took me under his wing and taught not only the rules of officiating a meet, but also explained the subtle nature of the job: positioing, working with the meet table and establishing a relationship with the coaches. Friendship knows no age difference, I will miss you Jim. May God bring peace to your family as he has brought peace to you. Your friend, Greg Davenport

Jim Stanway had a greater influence on my life than any teacher I ever had. The world is better for him having been in it.

Jim was one of the best and most memorable teachers I've ever had. Thank you Mr. Stanway, for your contagious enthusiasm, good humor, and joy in the class room. You made an impact on me, and always had a twinkle in your eye. It's amazing how a good teacher leaves a mark on the world. Your effect was a beautiful one, and it will be rippling through people's lives for years to come.
Thank You!!

Coach Stanway was my mentor, my teacher, my coach, my diving instructor, my scuba diving instructor and my sponsor to Hamline University on a swimming scholarship. I owe so much to you Coach. Fair Winds and Following Seas on your next journey. God Bless you and your Family.

Mr. Stanway was a favorite teacher of mine in H.S. I have such great memories of him. I remember him as a waiter at our Senior dinner. I made sure to have my picture taken with him because he meant a lot to me. I will cherish that picture. May God rest his caring soul as well as bless your family.

I still remember sleeping in Mr Stanway's physics class back many years ago at Kellogg Sr High . . . He came up to me after class and said why is it that you get such good grades but always sleep in my class? I finally told him it was because on my job. I worked 26 hours a week while in high school, 4 hours Thursday night, 11 hrs Friday night, 11 hours Saturday night. I was saving money for college. He explained that he didn't allow his daughters to work in high school and that way they...

Jim and I worked many swim meets together and often shared memories of Indiana University. I will miss his smile and the laughs we shared, my sympathy to his lovely wife Elsi and his family.

Mr. Stanway was an amazing teacher. I was
Iucky to not only have been one of his students, but also worked as his TA for a semester in high school. His excitement for learning was contagious and I'm sure his impact on his students far exceeds his imagination. He was one of the reasons I went into engineering. My thoughts and prayers to his friends and family, he will truly be missed.

Mr. Stanway was one of my favorite teachers in high school. His advice in those years is the main reason I chose chemical engineering as a profession. I was very sad to learn of his passing. Prayers to his family and friends. The world has lost a wonderful man.
