I was so very fortunate to work under Commander Steele for almost eight years. He was one of the finest Police Commanders, mentors & friend anyone could ever have. Lynchburg is a better and safer place to live because of men and women like him.

Dear Uncle Jim, I missed you at church yesterday. Seeing your empty spot on our pew was very difficult. Thank God you, me, mom and dad had weekly meetings that had become a tradition. I wish I had given you an extra hug on Tuesday night. Say hi to your mom, my Grandma; we miss her so much. I am happy that you are now with your Heavenly loved ones, but we on Earth are struggling. So many people knew you and loved you. I am proud to call you Uncle Jim. I miss you. Love, Jackie

I was assigned to Cmdr. Steele's shift after graduating from the police academy - he was a fair & level headed man to work for. After leaving the LPD, I am honored to say he was my friend. Jim will be missed by his co-workers and friends. All of the Steele family are in my thoughts and prayers and he will be in our hearts forever.
