Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary - Toledo Obituary

James E. Stefango, 60, of Holland, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 10 at Flower Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born January 1, 1954, to George and Florence (Savage) Stefango in Toledo, Ohio, Jim graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1972. Jim went on to attend the University of Michigan and the University of Toledo where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1981. In 1982, he became a registered Professional Engineer. Jim then worked at SSOE in Toledo before he became Vice President of Operations at Advantage Electric. He was then the Chief Electrical Estimator at Barton Malow in Southfield, MI; at Edgewood Electric in Madison Heights, MI; and at Skanska USA in Southfield, MI. He then finished his accomplished career at SSOE and at Transtar Electric in Toledo.
Jim was an avid sports fan, following the Michigan Wolverines, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Red Wings. Though he enjoyed listening to classic rock, watching classic television shows, and cooking his famous chili, his favorite activity was spending time with his family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents George and Florence Stefango. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jan; son Jared (Cindy) Stefango, daughter Jamie (Jacob) Sheskey, and daughter Jilian (boy friend David) Stefango; grandchildren Colin, Mia, Macie, and Austin; siblings George (Jackie) Stefango, Denis (Eliane) Stefango, and Janet (Tim) Thieme; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved pet, Sammy.
Family will welcome visitors Tuesday, July 15 from 5-8pm at Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary 3815 W Sylvania Ave. (Between Monroe St. & Talmadge Rd.) with a memorial service held at 7:30 pm.

Not sure what to say?

Jim was a classmate at OHHS. I have warm memories of Jim-- he was a really nice guy who seemed like a friend to all. My sincere sympathies to the Stefango family.

Jan and family,
I wish you peace and comfort in this difficult time. I didn't know Jim but Jan and I are friends from grade school and I love you, Jan, with all my heart. Hang in there and be strong. You can do this!
Sending strength, comfort, peace and love.
Nancy Tuttle

My deepest sympathy to all the Stefango family. I was in school with Jim at OHHS for ten years. I still think of the wonderful picture of him senior year with his long "blonde" hair. I hope your memories will help bring you peace in this difficult time.

Jan,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I will be coming up tomorrow from Cincinnati to see you and Jim. My thoughts are with you.
Tim Jones (Ottawa Hills now Cincinnati)

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God bless you in this time of sorrow.

George, Deny, Janet & Jan,
We are deeply saddened to learn of Jim's passing. Our family has many fond memories of Jim & all of you during our years as neighbors. Please know that you are in our thoughts & prayers now & in the days to come.

Jane Ockuly, Sharon, Jim & Joni

My deepest of condolences to you Jan and the rest of the Stefango family on your loss. Jim was a kind and gentle man. He will be missed.
