Carole, Rob and Meredith, Jeff Wilcox called me late last Saturday (12/20) telling me of seeing Jim's death notice in the paper. I can't say how sorry I am. What a wonderful man! Your obituary comments really said it all. He was all that you said and he did indeed touch in a positive way those fortunate to come in contact with him. He had a wonderful life with a wonderful family. We're all better for having known him. I've contacted Eileen in Palm Springs and will forward her this notice....

Dear Carole, Nana, Rob and Meredith,
I am so very sorry to hear about Uncle Jim. I've thought of all of you over the years and always hoped someday you and my parents could work things out. I wish I'd had the courage to initiate that myself.
Your obituary was beautiful. I remember Jim for his great sense of humor, his gorgeous blond hair, and the way he put lemon pepper on steaks when he grilled them. I do that now myself. I remember too that when Jim talked to you, you knew...

I very much look forward to getting to know Mr. Steiner better through the incredible family and friends that have been touched by him. I can only hope to lead a life as dedicated to family, service, community, and adventure as Mr. Steiner. I know he'll always give us strength and inspiration as we're finishing off those last few miles of any race.
