Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

My sweet boy was born August 13, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV to parents Danny L Swift and Vicki L Gines and passed away October 31, 2016. He attended West Jordan High School. James married Brenda Russell on December 28, 1990 and later divorced, but remained lifelong friends. He married the love of his life, Brenda Christensen on July 29, 1994. Together James and Brenda had 3 beautiful children, Leighann Marie, Danny James (DJ) and Jani Lee. He loved his children with all of his heart, they were his greatest accomplishment and pride and joy.
The happiest years of James' life were spent motocross racing with his son DJ and watching his daughters Leighann and Jani dance and do gymnastics. James was a big kid himself, so hanging out with his children and all of his nieces and nephews was always where he wanted to be. James' second love was a huge bowl of ice cream drenched in milk. He was the prankster of the family and always kept everyone laughing.
James was an amazing father, brother, son, uncle and grandson. He had a special heart, and loved hard. He always defended and stood up for the underdog and less fortunate. The saying "would give the shirt off your back", was true of James. He literally would give his shirt, shoes, money and anything he had to anyone he met.
James was gifted in any sport that he tried: baseball, tennis, golf, track, wrestling and boxing. He spent all of his youth playing little league baseball and was a "star player" in West Jordan's Babe Ruth league. His last year playing tournaments he hit 3 grand slams winning the title for West Jordan. James also nurtured his little brother Joey through his baseball years and paced the field like an expecting father whenever Joey had a game. James had a very special bond with his sister Steffanie that could never be broken and will forever be cherished. James was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being in the outdoors. James you were loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Survived by Danny (Henrietta) Swift, Vicki (David) Gines, Daughters Leighann Marie and Jani Lee, Son Danny James (DJ), Sister Steffanie (Buddy) Necaise, Michelle Dumas, Brother Joseph Roy Swift, John Gines, David Gines Jr, Grandfather Roy (Bess) Johnson and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Proceeded in death by grandmothers Janice Lee Johnson and Marilyn Bart, grandfather Lawrence Swift, uncle Steven Roy Johnson and Danny Jenson, aunt and uncle Ronald and Myrtis Kroll and his best buddy for life Merl Russell. James you are loved by many and will be greatly missed. Our hearts are forever broken, rest in peace daddy, pops.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 at 1 P.M. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 S. 2200 W., Riverton, UT. A viewing will be held two hours prior from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the same location. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is so painful. Lean on each other for comfort. I wish that I could say it gets easier with time. I really never knew James but I was close to Joey for along time. I know Jeremy thought a lot of James. Take care
