Not sure what to say?

My sympathy and condolences in the loss of Jim Tarr. He was a giant among us, a man with strength of principal, of service, of considerateness and generosity and kindness throughout -- and to so many. I lost an admired and special friend and will miss him immensely -- miss the breakfasts -- especially those during your beauty shop appointment, Margaret.

To Margaret Tarr and the Tarr Family - Jim was such an inspiration to me in my involvement with the DOC. I will always remember my first visit to Mt. Sequoyah. My sympathies to all of you. It is an incredible loss for the Methodist Church.

I grew up in the Dallas area during Mr. Tarr's tenure as Scout Executive and Chief of the BSA. I would not be who I am today if it had not been for his service and for the service of all of the great volunteers he worked with. My sincere thanks to his family for sharing him with us. He did make a difference!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Margaret, Guy, Mary, Carolyn, and all the Tarr family.

My sympathy to all the family in the coming days, praying for the "Holy Spirit" to give you comfort. My special memories of Jim Tarr would be his special thoughtfulness to all the employees at the National Office, Boy Scouts of America...before Christmas he would visit each department and wish everyone a merry Christmas with their family...very special. At the first retirees reunion I attended, I addressed him "Mr. Tarr," his reply was "I'm Jim Tarr." Just a truly fine gentleman...Heaven...

We wish we could be there with you today as you celebrate Jim's life. Two of our children will be there in our stead. We send our love to you and your family.

Jim was the epitome of a Christian gentleman. His leadership, caring, and concern - both in his service to Scouting, and to his church - will be long-remembered and appreciated.

Please accept our deepest sympathies.

Jim Tarr was a walking example of what it means to be a Christian. He will be greatly missed.
