I am terribly sorry for your loss. Jim was a great man in the deepest sense of the word: generous, thoughtful, encouraging, irreverent, and insightful. He was the absolute model of what a liberal arts professor should be. And he leaves an enduring legacy of scholarship and collegial warmth in a corner of the world that can always use it.
