Although I left Richland over 20 years ago, I never forgot Jim for a minute. I ran into his contributions wherever I turned and to him I turned in June for a visit back to the lab. He was one of the truly good guys and I will really miss him even if it was just running into him at an airport as we frequently did. He was taken from us much too early. May God bless this man and his entire family. He was truly special.

Jim was always kind and considerate to me and others. He seemed forever positive and uplifting, never negative and demeaning. He had many excellent ideas and was an inspiration to all. I will miss my friend Jim Thomas. May you be comforted in your loss.

Jim touched people all over the world with his ideas and enthusiasm. His vision greatly expanded research into how computer graphics and visualization can help people understand the world around them. He will be greatly missed.
